Did the Apple quarters move over in China? Just before the iPad 3 launch? Because the majority of rumors seem to be streaming from across the sea. Let’s hear this one out. An image of an iPad 3 logic board has just popped up on a Chinese website that is called WeiPhone. But surprise, surprise! Instead of finding the much anticipated A6 processor, there was something else in there. An Apple A5X processor, plus a bunch of 16 gigabyte flash memory chips.

Following the simple logic of 5 follows 4, therefore 6 should follow 5, and (because the Apple A5 succeeded the Apple A4) many fans were hoping - begging to for an A6 processor inserted into the upcoming devices. A number of rumors over hyped the excitement by stating that the processors could be quad-core, as opposed to the dual-core ones found in the A5. But then again, Apple could surprise us again.

The Apple A5X processor should turn out to be quite similar to the A5 chips we know from the current iPhone 4S and iPad 2 tablets, plus minor improvements and adjustments. Oh no! It seems we could relive the whole iPhone 4S story all over again.

And the news has found solid ground already to flourish in. BGR has jumped to confirm the authenticity of the photographs and even provided a number for the processor – S5L8945X. Compare that to the S3L8930X and S5L8940X (of the A4 and A5) and you’ll find out that the supposed iPad 3 processor is only a variation of those.
