Aerofly: That is the danger of delete and re-download. Fortunately the app I was able to do that with had changed its name slightly so I was able to download the new version before I deleted the old one. I think that the name change is very unusual. If Vert is available for another country, but...

One app updated straight after I got the ‘needs to be updated’ message; another I did as you -delete and reinstall. Others I have moved to a ‘possible delete’ folder, for which I will wait and see whether they get updates.

A few more no longer work: Trace Route Network Utility, Mr. Battery, Wi-Fi Checker, Mercury (used to be a good browser), Radio on my iPad. On my iPhone, as well as some of the above, MuseiCapitolini, but I expect that this will be updated, although I will have to use my VPN set to Milan or Rome...

I updated to iOS 14.5 last night on our iPad and iPhones and I have spotted one problem: I have a very old app, Memo, which is no longer supported by the developer, but it has continued to work very successfully - in fact it improved with age as it no longer crashed. Starting it up this morning...

I have just finished ‘This is Going to Hurt’ by Adam Kay from goodreads: Welcome to the life of a junior doctor: 97-hour weeks, life and death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and the hospital parking meter earns more than you. Scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless...

‘Humble Pi’ looks interesting, going on a quick look at reviews. I will add it to my current reading list. I am currently reading The Wytch Elm by Tana French. Can 2nd-gen iPad Pro “beam” it’s video to a large-screen TV via bluetooth?

Btw, just as an add on to the above, there is an app ApowerMirror allowing you to mirror from say an iPhone across to an iPad and then as above by HDMI cable to the TV.

    iOS 14.2 Keyboard for passwords

The delay occurred again yesterday when registering to a new website via Safari on my iPad. I cannot see any user-related reason for this to happen, so I have submitted a bug report to Apple.

    iOS 14.2 Keyboard for passwords

Has anyone else noticed that if you need to enter a password, for example to log into a website in Safari or in an app, the keyboard can take 10-15 seconds to appear? I have noticed this on both my old iPad air 2 and also on my iPhone 8. I don’t think that this occurred prior to 14.1 and may...

Can File Folders on iPad be password-protected?

I have not seen any way with Files, either. Both FileBrowser and Readdle Documents are fingerprint/password protected. With FileBrowser you can lock individual folders, although whether all locked folders use the same access password, I am not sure.

    Mail App Receiving Bug (iOS14.0.1)

I am creating a separate post to another Mail App post (IOS 14 Mail app Bug) as this is to do with receiving an email, rather than sending. I noticed yesterday a problem with an email from PatientAccess (in the UK) relating to an ‘Important Security Update’ change coming soon. Via the same...

    IOS 14 Mail app Bug

No problem, but don't expect too much. The best, I think, that one can hope for is that others report the same problem or that it is spotted by the developers and the correction is put into the next version of iPadiOS. Meanwhile, hopefully someone here may come across the solution.

    Alternative Apple Pencils

Quite agree with you, Twerppoet, about the rubber tipped styli, but for me it does what I need. When I move to a nice new iPad (dreams) an Apple pen will be part of the purchase. Battery not charging well

    >> half on videos and half simply reading books. Probably just that. Books with pictures/ photos seem to take a lot of processing power as do, to a lesser extent, plain epubs; so videos will do the same most likely. Something to try is to leave it fully, or near fully, charged one night and...

Ios14 went live last night, but with 5hrs download time, I waited until this morning. I have updated one iPhone so far, which took probably about 15/25 mins, to see what the immediate changes are. Most notably, for me, a few widgets seem to have gone (shortcuts and stocks, but they may be...

    iPhone downloads appear on iPad!

At a guess you may have both your iPhone and iPad are on the same Apple ID. I get this, although between two iPhone 8’s, but not between iPhone and iPad, but then the iPad is a lot older. I have not found, or really looked, for a way to stop it.
