Can't use quote marks at beginning of sentence

On my Pro 12, iOS 9.2, I'm unable to start a sentence with quote marks ("). I have to type a letter first, then type the symbol, then go back and delete the initial letter. Boring! Is it me or Apple?

iPad Pro Multitouch screen glitch - blank area in drawing apps

Hey IHA, after reading your post I tried drawing on the same part of the screen with my finger rather than my targus stylus (something I *never* usually do). This time there was no blank patch, no matter how lightly I pressed. Tested in Notes, GoodNotes4 and Explain Everything.

iPad Pro Multitouch screen glitch - blank area in drawing apps

You know TP, I'm gonna head into the Apple store and check out a Pro 9-incher (can't think of a better name!). If it doesn't have the dead patch issue I may try an exchange...

iPad Pro Multitouch screen glitch - blank area in drawing apps

I was all set to upgrade this morning, and then I went to the Apple support site to report this problem. I saw too many posts talking about 9.3 hassles and I lost my nerve. ;)

iPad Pro Multitouch screen glitch - blank area in drawing apps

Oh I'll try it alright, but I ain't buyin' it. Not until this issue is resolved. So it's still there in iOS 9.3.1? Won't be upgrading to that either. I am disappointed. Crestfallen, even. I can feel the smirks of derision from my Surface Pro buddies already.

iPad Pro Multitouch screen glitch - blank area in drawing apps

In the last five years, using various apps, I have created close to 1000 PDFs that use hand-writing and hand-drawn diagrams. These were all done using the oft-derided so-called cheap styluses with bulbous flexible tips. I practised and became proficient in their use. Last week I bought a...

Transferring "syncing relationship" from one computer to another.

Hi all. I've been a heavy user of iPads (for work) since 2010 and will be buying my third iPad some time in the next few weeks. I've used the same desktop computer for syncing my ipad for the last five years. It's getting a bit old and I have a new desktop computer ready to sync with my new...

Some Recommendations for Technical Apps for the iPro

Hi Tuttle, I haven't been on this forum for a very long time but I remember talking to you in the past on this topic. I am a maths teacher and composer. I've been using GoodNotes(3 and 4) for years. No other app approaches it for handwriting, PDF annotatation and whiteboard presentation. I am...

Evernote : How do you use it? : Tips and Tricks

Hi TP. Yeah, iOS 6.1.3. There are 23 apps in the "Open In" list, but Evernote is not there (anymore). Have tried all the usual fixes except for uninstalling/reinstalling. I'm afraid of doing that, for some dumb reason. I've invested a lot of time in this app and rely on it heavily for work and...

Evernote : How do you use it? : Tips and Tricks

Hi fellow Evernoters I just updated Evernote on the iPad and now I can't send stuff to it from other apps! That is, pre-update I could make a PDF in Note Taker HD and then do the "Open In" thing and Evernote would be in the list of about 15 apps that I could send the PDF to. Now it ain't. I...

Evernote : How do you use it? : Tips and Tricks

Hi twerppoet, Mickey330 et al. I'm an enthusiastic user of Evernote on three different platforms. Recently Everclip on iPad has started to crash seconds after loading. This is the first app to behave like this in the two-and-a-half years I've been iPadding. It's extra annoying because it's an...

Handwriting is squiggly with any app

Hi PRSS. I've only ever used Targus styluses, except for a cheap no-name stylus that I threw away after 5 minutes because it was so soft that its metal shaft would bump nastily into the screen whenever I tapped. So all I know is that for me, firm is better than soft. My styluses tend to last...

Handwriting is squiggly with any app

Don't forget the other apps I mentioned in the earlier post that also use this method. GoodNotes, for example, is easier to use than NTHD and has more flexible ink, although it isn't as full-featured. If you set up properly there's no need to write unnaturally.

Handwriting is squiggly with any app

I've bought four Targus styluses since Dec 2010. After a few months they get "sticky" and I chuck 'em out. Yeah, they've all been pretty fat-tipped. The one I bought the other day is a bit annoying; it's one of those knob-on-the-lid-normal pen-on-the-inside affairs. I prefer a one-piece job. I...

    iPad in graduate school

Hi Tuttle I agree with your suggestions. But why Inkpad for drawings? What can it do that GoodNotes can't? Btw, I use Note Taker HD and iDraw. I just discovered GoodNotes, it's great. I haven't finished my rigorous comparo of of GN and NTHD yet. Will post it up later if you want. I use Formula...

Using an iPad to control a Smartboard

And I'd like info on a related topic. I currently use an iPad and an older data projector. They're wired together. Is there any way of establishing a wireless connection? Some Apple device interposed? Does a wireless network have to be involved? Has anyone done this successfully?

Not sure if it's ok to post this here. Happy to have this post removed by an admin if it contravenes some rule. https://www.evernote.com/pub/markk51/somehandwrittennotes The notes I've linked to were made almost exclusively with NTHD and a Targus stylus. Any printed text you see comes from...

Handwriting is squiggly with any app

You CAN write with a stylus on the iPad and do it well For the record, I totally disagree with the naysayers. The iPad may not have been designed to take notes with a stylus but you don't have to be young, particularly patient or a genius to be able to produce PDFs that contain handwritten...

Looking for a Screenshot to PDF convertor that allows annotations.

I do this sort of thing all the time. I use Note Taker HD, which allows me to crop the screenshot(s) and annotate to my hearts content using handwriting, text, images or shapes. Brilliant app.

What does everyone use to clean their ipads screen?

I had an iPad 1 for two and a half years. I just breathed on it and wiped gently with a microfibre cloth, not so much to clean it but to preserve the life of my styluses. The screen was as pristine as day 1 when I gave that iPad to a friend last week.

Have reset iPad 1. Is it now trashed?

I got the latest iPad. My friend asked me for my old iPad 1 (great machine). I decided to reset it so all of my info would be gone. But now I'm wondering how he's going to use it. You can't get IOS 4.3 or even iOS 5 anymore, can you? Have I bricked a perfectly good machine? What will...

    Problems with update

Obsolete? That depends on how hard you want to ride that bleeding edge...:-) My Macbook is 4 years old and doing just fine by me. I never updated from Leopard. My 1-year old iPad1 will hopefully last me just as long. Unless I discover good reasons for attempting an upgrade (eg, security...

Best note taking app for iPad

I would have bought a Windows tablet PC but was put off by its size, weight, price and battery life. I thought long and hard about getting an iPad, but after almost a year with one, I have no regrets. I have used just one $20 stylus in that time (it's just given up the ghost and has been...

I'm not sure if iAnnotate or GoodReader can do this, but Note Taker HD can.

    Note app that really works....

Whoah, there it is! I've never noticed it before. Shows you how little I use auto-advance. After playing with it for 30 seconds I've got to say it makes using auto-advance even easier. Thanks for the tip, and sorry for implying that you might have been hallucinating. :) Btw, on my computer and...

    Note app that really works....

Are you using an iPad2? I'm using an iPad1 running iOS4.3 with the latest version of NTHD (v6.5). I've been using the app for 11 months and have never seen a blue dot on the left of the auto advance screen. I see a grey area in which I can position the next letter quite easily.

    Note app that really works....

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what it is you want to do with NTHD and Dropbox. When I punch Output, Done, have open PDF selected, punch Start, up comes the "Open In..." box, and DropBox is there as an option. I click on DropBox and whoosh, the PDF is in DropBox. I know it works 'cause I just tried...

    Note app that really works....

I agree that NTHD's auto advance isn't as good as Notes Plus's, but I think the quibble is a minor one. Yes, no recording, bit of a shame, but I hope it isn't implemented at the expense of any of the other many features. I mean, perhaps NP's currently unsatisfactorily jerky ink is a result of...

Lock Kids Out Of Kendle & iBooks

I have the perfect way of restricting my kids from certain apps: I sit with them while they're playing, looking, laughing. An added benefit is that I can play, look and laugh as well. And because we're all crowded onto the same couch there's a fair bit of cuddling as a by-product. :)

I'd like something like that too, with or without the handwriting being recognized.

    Note app that really works....

Not as frustrating as your unanswerable post. :) I would recommend Note Taker HD to you, but I have no idea what you want from a note taking app besides zoom, which Notes Plus does very well (so does NTHD, the best note-taking app out there, imo). Care to expand on the unusability of Notes...
