    PaperLike Screen Protector

Just an update. After my iPad Pro original edition went belly up I bought a new iPad Pro, 3rd gen. I took the opportunity to get and apply the PaperLike screen protector. First story: I followed the directions on the video whose link comes with the protector. Even though I am a bit "thumb...

How do I use the Files app on my iPad Pro?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a reference on the above mentioned topic? Also, though my pdf files in Goodreader initially showed as .pdf in Files, they have suddenly started showing F+ and pressing for a while on an icon shows that they are of type archive. What the heck has happened and...

    Purchased Apps

I am trying to find a notetaking app on the app store. I have forgotten its name and therefore just want to browse my purchased apps, but I can't seem to find "purchased apps" on my iPad Pro running the latest iPadOS. Any advice? Thanks.

    Pro dropping external drive

Merci! As I understand things, there are dedicated channels for 5V power in a usb connector, so I assume any device connected can "feed" from it. But, strangely, it seems that an ssd storage device runs in the same price range as hub. And, I assume, would be less power hungry than a hard drive.

    Pro dropping external drive

Have been looking (on line) for a powered usbc hub and none explicitly say that the power can flow to my external hard drive attached to the usb3 port. Any ideas or recommendations?

    Pro dropping external drive

Okay, so I have a new pro, 12.9 inch, 1 terabyte. I have hooked up a Seagate external HD that I have been using on my Mac. Works okay, but my iPad drops the connection randomly. Any thoughts?

    How much memory?

As my original pro has died, I am in the market for a new one. Any recommendations as to which version? Also, an important question: since external drives can now be accessed through the new usbc, how much internal memory does one need? Seems to me that I can go with small on-board memory and...

My iPad Pro went belly up!

My first generation iPad Pro refused to boot the other day, stuck on the Apple logo. After a bit of research, I downloaded Reiboot and ran it. Couldn't recover or restore. Local computer shop has it now. They couldn't recover or restore either. (Probably ran Reiboot!) So I seem to have a...

Biggest App Scam or Biggest Developer Goof?

Hi giradman, I purchased it on the app store. I have the LaTeX apps you referred to, but thought it would be nice to have this one for simply writing equations to be used in other apps, such as email, etc. I woule think Twerpoet's suggestions are the true state of affairs, but I don't trust any...

Either way, this interesting TeX app won't work unless you agree---and it cost me eight bucks! P.S. Title should have read "Goof"!

    Search and Coding for Kids

Yep! That's it! I don't use SIRI and, in what is now apparently careless reasonong, I turned everything off---assuming it was for SIRI only. Many thanks.

    Search and Coding for Kids

I am looking for a good app that teaches my nine year old grandson to code---preferrably on the iPad which allows him to make simple iPad/iPhone apps. I came across an evaluation of Swift Playgrounds, which looks promising. The article claimed that Swift Playgrounds came preloaded on my iPad...

    Old Purchased Apps?

A number of years ago I purchased a fairly expensive gps app (Garmin USA or some such). I can't find it now on the app store, so I thought I would look through my purchases in the hope of finding it. Surprise! Apparently the app store no longer shows a list of purchased apps! Or, maybe I just no...

Can you turn off an iPad Pro smart keyboard when using the on-screen keyboard?

Just fold the keyboard back to the reverse side of the iPad and the on-screen keyboard will appear and the smart keyboard ijnput will be turned off. Or did I not understand the issue? Holding the iPad flat on your lap is more convenient for using the on-screen keyboard, at least to me. Do you...

    LaTeX on the iPad

An old thread, but here goes! Texwriter was an excellent app, and the developer very responsive; however, the latest version is a disaster, and I think the developer knows it because he has developed a hypersenstivity about suggestions. Just wanted to update folks. I am now trying to learn to...

    Smart Keyboard Problems

Just an update. I had no success through the standard Apple help desk, but on a whim I sent an email to tcook@apple.com---figuring that it just might find its way to someone appropriate. It did! Smart Keyboard Problems

I have been a fan of Apple's Smart Keyboard since it was introduced along with the iPad Pro. The keyboard seems to be well conceived ergonomically. But after about a year of light to moderate use, one key ceased responding. It happened to br the "\". I use the LaTeX app TeX Writer a lot, and...

    Strang Sounds

All of a sudden my iPad Pro has gotten neurotic: It spontaneously generates a strange sound---a repetitive thwang-thwang-thwang---. It has always done that to some extent, particularly when I put slight pressure on one corner. I suppose it is a slight short ir open circuit caused by the...

    Keyboard Problem

Well, it was out of warranty. Apple gave me a whopping thirty bucks credit relative to a replacement. (Seems like everything I own has a lifetime about ten percent more than the warranty period!) But I have to say: Apple service was extremely fair, courteous, and prompt. My new keyboard arrived...
