I have calendars and reminders synced between phone and ipad but when I try to sync notes it prompts me to create an iCloud account. When I do, i am told there is a"Problem Turning On Mail" There was a problem turning on your email, try again. I don't care about mail sync. It already happens...

Hello, With the arrival of OS5 I went to update my wife's ipad2. Unfortunately, I erased her itunes of my mac and my time machine doesn't go back that far. The system prompts me to erase the ipad and sync with my itunes. Is there a way I can keep her apps and other data somewhere else?

To all who responded, thank you. when I tried to enter Skype name etc, it would not respond. When it did respond, it would give me the copy or paste option. Eventually, I figured out to ignore and just type the info. a little awkward, but it did the job...
