Try downloading the USB Disk app, and the I Read PDF app. It should allow you to save the document to a virtual USB drive and then read from the PDF viewer app. If you hold your finger on the document do you get the option to save it?

Are you running 3.2 or 4.2? There was a problem with earlier version of java which should have been fixed with 4.2, but you may be correct that the functionality in the iPad is limited as well.

Lots of schools are going over to computers instead of books because the computers -can- end up being more cost effective than instruction books for multiple subjects. The problem with the iPad is that it can't run flash so much of the website browsing will be limited to non-flash content...

Are you saying that downgrading the iOS has the potential to make your iPad a brick, or that in some cases it just does not work and you are simply stuck with the newer iOS version? Does TinyUmbrella work with iTunes 10.1 correctly or did Apple close the door on it?
