    Can we use DropBox safely?

If you haven't seen it yet, The Matrix is a great move. One of the better Keanu Reeves movies. It is a SciFi flick though, so not everyone's cup of tea.

    Can we use DropBox safely?

I saw your recommendation for 1Password. It looks good (but pricey, as you pointed out). But the real problem that I see, is there a way to pass information between iPad and PC? This is the beauty of DropBox, and why I wanted some encryption that would work on both sides of the DropBox...

    Can we use DropBox safely?

Yes... exactly! Any "cloud" service is inherently unsafe, if you put sensitive information into it. It is best to encrypt sensitive information before placing it into the cloud. "LocBox" does this, but as far as I know it does not have a client available for iPad usage (just desktops). So I...

    Can we use DropBox safely?

Does anyone know of a way to send data safely thru DropBox? I have read about a product called "LocBox", but it doesn't appear to be available for use on an iPad. I would like to be able to share sensitive information between home PC and iPad/iPhone... but so far I haven't found the "red pill".

    A text editor??

GoodReader sounds really nice. What sort of search ability does it have?

    A text editor??

Yeah, I was about to write that I couldn't find it! Oh well, while looking for Essay, I found WriteRoom. It actually works! But there is some room for improvement... it would be nice if the search function worked like the "Find" command in NotePad (of Windows fame). In WriteRoom, the search...

    A text editor??

Thanks for the tip! I have tried around 4 text editors so far, a couple free ones and a couple of pay ones. So far, only 1 actually supported the iTunes sharing, and it was buggy... didn't work properly. I will give a look at Essay!

    A text editor??

By the way, I did look at GoodReader, and it seems like it will do the job, but hard for me to be sure. The app page for it says that it deals with PDF files, and I just need plain Jane text files. Everything seems too fancy for what I need. I have been thinking of just putting the...

    A text editor??

I do not trust the cloud, DropBox or otherwise, because of the confidential nature of my notes... things like account passwords, etc. It would be a disaster if it were to be disclosed to the wrong people... and nowadays how can you tell who is the wrong person, with all the big companies that...

    A text editor??

Okay, that was a rhetorical question... :o But now you have my interest piqued... what is the philosophy of iOS? And how does it run counter to it? I am genuinely interested. I guess I was under the mistaken impression that the philosophy of iOS was to fulfill the needs of its users. I will...

    A text editor??

I am getting frustrated. I am looking for a simple text editor program that can import TXT files thru iTunes. I have tried quite a few of them (but there are a bunch of them left to try), and it seems they are either (a) expensive (like "Pages"), or (b) use something like DropBox (which is...

    Audiobook reader for iPad

I searched and searched, finally I found an audiobook reader app that I liked best, but it''s not perfect. I am blind... well, 20/800 or worse in both eyes, so I listen to a LOT of audiobooks. I have to constantly use a magnifying glass or giant fonts to read any computer screen (even the...

Why Jobs Flash explanation doesn't make sense

This is caused by large organization standards adoption. It is a mentality that some large organizations use to adopt a standard. Once adopted, it is darn hard to change, and stifles all innovation. I am retired, but my son works at a large organization, and they have adopted Flash as their...

    DVDs to IPad?

I have been using DVDFab. It works good for Blu-ray too. It can be a little tricky, and is on the expensive side... but you cannot beat the results. Also, it is fast (my biggest issue with most programs). I have even used it on Region 2 Pal DVDs --- I used AnyDVD to handle the region...

    Zooming browser for iPad

iCab allows the pinch to zoom, and you can zoom to virtually any amount you wish (I have not purposely tried to test the zoom amount, but it can zoom a very great amount). But the text does not re-flow. Everything is simply magnified in proportion, so re-flow is not necessary. Re-flow would...
