I assume this is the most gentle screen cleaner on the market. Works well on my iPad.

Where does the data sit that I can access it remotely from my iPad? Is it sitting quietly on my iPad taking up storage space? Or is it on my PC and, if so, what path am I using to get at the data?

Yes...just create a new folder in your computer's My Pictures...call it "Synchfoto" or whatever.
Drop whatever photos you wish to synch in this folder.
When you synch iPad with iTunes, choose the photos drop down menu and select your new folder as the only folder you wish to synch with...
The Apple help desk is available to all iPad purchasers for free for 90 days from the day you buy it. They are very knowledgable and have helped me on MobileMe, iTunes synching and even with the amazon/kindle books that I downloaded.
