Could be a setting too I had the same issue, and upon looking at my settings for the Store, I noticed I had 'Use Cellular Data' set to "off". Once I set it to ON, it all downloaded.

Mine is so-so I have the iPad II with 3G and I use it at work mostly. I play a few games, surf the web, and look at a few you-tube clips. In a 9 hour work day I probably have it on for about 5 hours, and when I get home I have about 30% battery life left. I have had it for a couple of months...

Hi Ken here, from sunny California. I have a new-ish iPad II and love it. I am a tech support guy, so I love coming home to my Apple stuff and being care free. :)
