Same situation here with an iPad I got from eBay. It's set for two minutes but still was not turning off. A soft reset fixed the problem. Press and hold the power and home buttons at the same time. Release them when you see the white Apple. I hope this works for others as well.

Hello all, I love gadgets but however i have never been an apple fan and certainly didn't want an iPad.... that is, until my aunt came in town for Thanksgiving with her iPad 2 and, and... I got hooked!!! OMG! i couldn't put it down! Now I not only want an iPad 2, but now i want a Mac pc as well...
