I found a method that will work, though it is a little fussy to do. Insert the photo and extend the soundtrack to go under the photo. Then trim the following clip until it matches with the ending of the extended soundtrack. There should be an easier way to do it, but if there isn't, this post...

I am new to iPad and loving it! I downloaded iMovie for iPad and really enjoy the app, but I can't insert a photo so it overwrites the video while maintaining the audio. Is this possible? Here's a video I did with Photoshop to show what I mean. MODERATED No external links I hope someone can help.
