    POP? IMAP? Help!

    I have both an iPhone and an iPad. I somehow was successful getting my gmail account to sync with both of these and my desktop but my main email account will not. It is very annoying to have to mark each email read in two of the three devices after reading on the one.

    I won't even pretend to understand what POP, IMAP etc are or why one over the other but I would really like to get my main email account to sync like the gmail does.

    What information would any of you need about my email server in order to help me get this working?

    My provider is MediaCom, my cable provider.

    Perhaps you should check with your ISP? After a year of people buying iPads you would think they'd have something on their website.
