Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

One of our experienced Forum members recently posted in this thread a review he carried out of Office apps for the iPad for his company. You might find his report useful - it's in this thread - a couple of messages from the top...

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

In the same position and looking for feedback. Been reading all the posts here on iPF and web reviews, and another app mentioned is QuickOffice. Still researching which app will fit my needs. I primarily need an app for word processing as I do a lot of drafting in word. Looking for track changes functionality and so far the only app that will show track changes in a word document is Documents to Go (my understanding is you can't draft and track changes though).

Yes - the lack of Track Changes is a major stumbling block for many people. I use Apple's iWorks suite on the iPad and it's a real pain that I cannot even see the Track Changes in an imported Word document, let alone update them. Hopefully app developers will see an opportunity here to separate themselves from the competition.

I have installed numbers on my ipad. I have imported a numbers file from dropbox.
On my Imac I can change the data and use numbers like 2.5 or 3.5.
When I open the same file in numbers on my Ipad and change the numbers the same way, 2 changes in 2.5, numbers makes it the number 3. I have no idea who to adjust the settings.

Most of the iPad Office apps have limitations - it's almost inevitable - but there are often/usually work arounds.

For example, Apple's iPad iWorks 'Word' app, Pages, doesn't have in-built a mechanism for inserting super- and sub-scripts or handling footnotes - but there are well-known - effective, though ugly - workarounds that you can use if you're in a fix!! Similarly, it has no in-built support for many frequently used symbols - but, again, there's a 'fix' for that too!!

Of course, it would be nice if these Office apps were fully Word, PowerPoint or Excel compliant but, realistically, I don't think we're likely to see that.
