Wide gray line in the middle of display

My daughter turned her ipad 1 on at chuch this morning and it had a gray line about 1 -1 1/2 inch wide in the middle of screen. I have tried the reset, but it is still there. Will it correct the issue if I replace the screen?

Does the line remain stationary when you rotate the screen? If so, it is likely to be a faulty screen. The only fix would be a screen replacement. If you don't have experience, it is advisable to have the screen replaced at a proper repair centre.
