Here's another clue. It's down the street from the Theater of Marcellus.

Would it be the Portico of Octavia? If so, Augustus built it as a monument to his sister Octavia around 26BC.

The image in your challenge is of the southwest entrance - which is all that remains of the original structure.

An on-line article notes the ruin now forms part of an archaeological park that includes some temples and the theatre of Marcellus.

This image shows the portico under night lighting.

It could indeed be the porticus of Octavia.
Here is what it originally looked like.

    The challenge moves east.

These two images are related. They are part of one rather large thing.
As a whole, this place has been described as one of the world's "buried treasures."

What it is leads you to where it is. Need both answers for the win.

Part of the Chicago Transit Authority rapid transit system nicknamed the "L" for elevated.

Your picture appears to show act a train entering "the loop".

This image is a frontal of the same area, if I'm correct.

    image-3960981525.jpg

Based on total track mileage the Chicago system is the second largest rail transit system in the U.S., behind New York.

Correct, Admiral. It's a view of the loop in central Chicago. Your photo is the same curve, taken from the opposite side. You have the challenge, Admiral.

P.S. auto correct did a number on your post, Admiral.

I was changing it as you posted.
I've also changed the quote box in your
    response.

Interesting the intuitive spelling feature chose "elected" over elevated, for a city known for its raucous politics.

Woodstock 1969, Bethel, Max Yasgur's farm.

If I'm right, I can't post a new challenge and pass it to the next available member.

Absolutely correct Admiral. All three have different themes, one tropical, one desert, and one A floral show dome.

Also - what's the story of the beast?

It's Sable island, off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Sable Island ponies arrived on the island in the late 18th century for pasture. They are found only on Sable Island and on mainland Nova Scotia in a herd descended from animals removed from the island in the 1950’s.
