When will they stop updating the iPad 2?

They stopped updating the iPad 1 after only a couple of years after its release how long do you think it will last?

The same time they stop updating the iPad mini. Since they are exactly the same CPU and architecture I don't see that happen for a few years.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

No one can answer your question accurately I'm afraid as it all depends on what new technology advances there are. The ipad1 had only 256mb of ram whereas the ipad2 has double that and the new iPad, double that again to 1 GB. Others may have more knowledge on the technical side to help you here.

I have deleted your other post on how long the iPad will last as its more or less the same as this one.

I didn't know the mini was the same guts as the iPad2. That's cool. Lets keep in mind too that just because they stop OS updates or whatever doesn't mean that the tablet is now useless. In many cases you will still be using it just as you are now. There might be a few new OS features that you get left out of or a few new apps that won't work right. Overall though, your iPad2 will be running fine long after apple stops officially updating it. I wouldn't fret it. I also have an ipad2 and I'm not bothered by any of that stuff.
