Restoration Home was on BBC2 last night. I was looking forward to the programme, but saddened by what the owners did to a 1930s pumping station. I was prompted to post the following comment on a Blog site.

"I agree with Neil. Nutbourne was an opportunity missed.
"The character of this building was lost - if not ruined. The first living room looks like a public library or a reading room. The replacement staircase down to the basement is a puny installation.

"Why oh why didn't they keep the original stairs and balcony. IMHO this feature would have provided a perfect setting for a library.

"I could go on, but wont.

"I think the family was let down by their professional advisors who obviously had no feeling for this building."

In a word Philistines had their day.
