Johannes Brahms Waltz in A Major, Op. 39, No. 15
River Flows In You, pianist: Yiruma
Mason Williams and Mannheim Steamroller:
Berlioz Requiem (again). The glorious "Tuba Mirum" is playing right now.
As much as I adore this recording (the Telarc LP with Shaw/Atlanta), it is a mere shadow of the live performance I attended many years ago: an augmented St. Louis Symphony under Slatkin, plus four choruses comprising over 400 singers, in the lush acoustics of Powell Hall. The tenor soloist John Ayler sang from a couple of rows behind me, in the balcony! Major goosebumps.
J.A. - is that you playing the flute in the back row? I'm pretty sure I saw you in there!
I'm standing in the front row usually. So: no, that wasn't me.
Aw, shucks, and I was SO SURE this time!
