I caught a hummingbird once. It trapped itself under the deck umbrella and couldn't find it's way out, so I caught it using a spiders web, so I could release it safely.

Wow, Kevin..they are so tiny to catch! Never thought to use Spider Webs...but that seemed to do the trick, eh?

A Brown Thrasher. I am not certain if we have those in our area, but will need to check.

We do have pics that my husband took of several hummingbirds...but it is on his Cannon, so I will need to get it off and load it here to share.

Great pics, for sure. I am still waiting for that deer and it's Fawn to come by...:) hopefully tomorrow!

This was a surprise! We've been scaring the squirrel out of a platform feeder, but wondering how he got there. We saw him hanging off the roof but I didn't get a picture. The bird feeder has a squirrel baffle on it.

You can see a bit of the shepherd's hook pole holding the feeder at the lower right corner.

Oh...great pic of the squirrel!! They are very sneaky and seem to be able to get around things that are full proof!

Well, we do have pics of some hummingbirds...but still have to downsize or before i can upload here. Meanwhile...my Hibiscus is now in full bloom.

The back of my property borders on where my neighbor keeps their horse.. I give it a pat on the nose and the odd carrot, so he always runs to meet me when I go to the fence :)

I love hibiscus, too.
An update on the squirrel. This is where I found him about an hour ago.

Another visitor. He was an almost daily visitor in winter and spring but I haven't seen him or his mate much recently.

Oh, that squirrel is robbing from the bird food again, that sneaky devil!! They are pretty maneuverable critters aren't they!

Czevski--how do you get such a close up with your camera? That is a great pic of that woodpecker. Usually when I spot a bird to take a pic of..it's already too late and they have flown off. :)

I have a Nikon p100 with a 25x lens. My backyard photos are taken from within the house so I don't scare them off, but. I do miss a lot of photos when they take off before I'm focused. I have the same problem when I'm on my walks, but I keep trying and sometimes I'm lucky.

I wanted to start this thread to share the wonderful things I see in my backyard. Just this morning, I saw a deer and it's fawn walking across our backyard. I tried taking a picture, but they nestled behind our pine tree to nap. The fawn still was so young with its white spots. So cute!!

Here are some pics of what we see here...some were taken last Fall.

I really love where we live. Hope to take some pics of some of the other animals that cruise thru our backyard soon!! :)

You have a heard there, I would love to get up in the AM and sit with a good cuppa coffee and just watch them do their thing, you are fortunate to be able to watch them, fawns so cute!!
(taking advantage of TiVo for Posters);) I think that is what someone said in a post, but I liked it.

Thanks, Burly! We are very fortunate to see these things in our great State of Michigan! For as many deer that cross through our backyard, I still always think that it is a large dog at first before a deer...especially in the suburbs!

That's fantastic......the only thing that peeks in here is the odd wasp and the postman!
