I was going through my photos to make a folder to upload to the ipad and I realized I use several different extensions for the photos like jpeg, bmp etc, should I be converting them all to a particular format?

If your purpose is just to watch them in a slide show on the iPad, I would go with .jpg or .jpeg, apple seems to handle these very well.

I'm not familiar with all the image formats the iPad supports, but as Pocobear points out.... JPG is the best. This format uses compression, so JPG image files will take up a lot less of your on-board memory than all of the other image formats.
