You'll be able to sit on the couch next to your hubby and watch your favorite movie on your iPad (with headphones) while he watches football and it will still be considered "Quality Time" together.

Maybe I'll have to get one for my girlfriend too! :)

My girlfriend would kill to get this. She loves the apple mark, but this is too expensive to get one for me, and one for her. I might as well just buy her one and thats it.:/

Much like iBrean, to unchain myself from my MacPro and be social in the communial living room.

Lots of thin client remote desktop control to the Tower. Web surfing from the iPad. Likely a decent amount of adventure outlining and writing using iWorks or something like it (that's right even more nerdy stuff like Dungeons and Dragons / Pathfinder). Mobile game manual and resource platform.

Oh and personal/private video viewer.

Do you think you could download movies from Netflix, that would be cool to be bored and say I am going to watch a movie and boom your watching it wherever you are.

Same thing I use my iPod Touch for, but on a bigger and better screen.

email
web browsing
Magazine reading
Book reading ( Belgariad, Bourne Legacy, Casino Royale, Dragonlance, Game of Thrones, The Lightning Thief, Red Rabbit, Shogun, Wheel of Time)..all are on my Touch right now. I love using it for reading, and I can't imagine not using it's bigger brother for the same thing. Stanza should be on iPad.
Streaming movies and tv shows from my hard drive: Currently have every season of Entourage, Smallville and Supernatural on a 2TB hard drive. I can currently stream all of those from anywhere with a wi-fi connection to my Touch using Orb. I expect to do the same thing with the iPad.
Read Comic Books: I have over 1000 digital comics that I HATE reading on my Touch. I love using Comic Zeal to read them though. I can't wait to use it on my pad.

My wife likes simplicity. So this will consolidate functions currently currently done by multiple devices.
1. Replace her Kindle.
2. Replace her Video Ipod. She uses Tivo2Go to catch up on her shows when on the road. (I will have to get the 64G version just for this function).
3. Replace her laptop. When on the road, my wife uses LogMeIn to remotely access her office desktop. LogMeIn has an App to use.
4. Client Sales Presentations.
5. Video travel slideshows.

While I would like to "pull the trigger" as soon as they come out, I am concerned that there might be pricing/capability changes like with the iPhone.

It will be primarily an e-reader, but I will probably use it to watch movies on planes too.

Stanza vs iBooks

Stanza should be on iPad.

I have not used Stanza before, looked it up and it looks great, but I am wondering if we won't be able to do all these things with the iBooks app on the iPad. I can't see Apple blocking all the book reading apps on the AppStore so you had to do use iBooks.

So if iBooks will do all the things Stanza does ie search all the locations for the download of fee books and free books I would be much more likely to buy a book from them and have 1 less program do deal with.

It all depends on the iBooks interface and the cost and availability of content. If you can't download the free content from various sources then it may not be as big a hit.

Jeez I wish they would give us some hints.

I can't wait to surf the web on it. And, I think that ebook reading will be fantastic. I just hope that it will be easy to transfer ebooks I already have (DRMless thank God and Python scripts) to the device.

I am going to replace my laptop and use it for everything. I love to read, I enjoy Twittering and Facebook. As well as emailing my kids. I love to sit with my little ipod and do so many things and this will be a wonderful replacement for that. I will be able to see this with my old eyes. I love all kinds of apps. I cant wait.

Ellie you will always need to keep a computer at side , even just for download new app's or for update but except this you can do everything nearly same as with you're laptop
