Warranty on refurbished iPad

I am having a battery issue with my iPad1. The shop has said that it will probably be replaced with a refurbished iPad with a 3 month warranty. The refurnished bit I don't mind, but 3 months seems very light. Any thoughts. my iPad is not yet 12 months old.

Would the three months make it to 12 months since you bought the original iPad. I think it would be unfair if, for example, you'd had the original iPad for, say, a month but OK if you'd had it for 9 months or more.
