does one need to be protected from a virus on IPad mini and if yes are there any suggestions ?

At present there are no virus issues with any iDevices but you should always be aware of Internet security such as when on public wifi hotspots (don't use your credit card info unless you are on a secure connection, etc).

If any virus's which may be a danger to you do appear then rest assured we will report them on these forums but right now you are fine.
