using ipad as just handset

Good day.

I wonder if there is a way or other using ipad to make calls and text msg using service provided by mobile company (using sim card), the reason for this is if I use third party app reveiving parties must have same app. I mean I need to call any landline or any mobile phone, I know that I will pay call/msg charges for my mobile company.

Please help.

No. The iPad is not a phone. Only VoIP calls like skype would work.

Actually, the Google Voice app sounds like what your looking for. With it you get your own phone number, and can make calls to any phone, mobile or land-line, free of charge all from your iPad. I'm currently using it for precisely the same purpose!

Thanks to all, UNfortunately Google voice is not working in my country (Saudi Arabia).
