Upgrade to ios6

Have been trying to upgrade to ios6. On my ipad 2 using wifi. However when I go into settings and general there is no software upgrade option. Which I was told by several people I would find under about. As the hard drive has packed up on my laptop and I am waiting for a replacement I cannot do the upgrade through iTunes. Help

That explains it. Over the air updates became available with 5.0

Thanks for info. Is it possible to upgrade first to ios5 using wifi. I have already tried when my computer was working but I only got the ios6 option.
