so I have happily been running a jail broke ipad1 on 4.3.1 since the day i first found this wonderful site but low and behold Netflix of all things turned out to be my kryptonite. my daughter uses that app more than anything so now it seems i have no choice but to install 5.1 or 5.1.1 since those are the only newer shsh blobs i have along with a couple of 4.3...'s. So the question i pose is this: is the performance running 5.1.1 on ipad1 really that horrible? From what i have read here it is pretty much a nightmare for the older hardware and i dont want to ruin a perfectly good working device for one app.

Here is a screen shot of the shsh blobs i have. i guess if im unhappy with the downgrade I could restore to the 4.3.3 right.

As I have an iPad3, I couldn't tell you how well an iPad1 runs on iOS 5.1.1 (though my sister's is still going strong ... and she likes it). I am writing to tell you that yes, if you find out that iOS 5.1.1 is not the iOS for you, you can go back to iOS 4.3.3. Hope that reassures.

I cannot advise you about jail breaking. Hopefully someone else will provide you input on what to do about upgrading. I think there is a jail break for iOS5.1.1.

With regard to the original stock iPad and iOS5.1.1, I have had very little problem with this configuration. I have all three iPad versions and the one I use every day is still the original. Netflix runs very well on this iPad. I do admit the same Netflix show on an iPad 3rd generation looks better. I don't know if I'm dreaming but ever since the new iOS6 has come out and all of the apps I use have been upgraded to take advantage of the new iOS, my 5.1.1 iPad seems to work better using those updated apps? Some members have stated Safari loads faster with the new iOS, same thing on my original iPad.

YMMV.

My iPad 1 and 3 are both on iOS 5.1.1 and both work great. I haven't had any issues. They work without any issues and both are jailbroken. They both have a fair amount of tweaks also
