It's on the lockscreen. It's the little square in the bottom right next to your slider.

I am guessing it is the little circle metal looking thing in the cover since one of the pics seems to focus on that :D

Question: is there a way to increase the size of the thumbnails on the bottom bar in the photo album? Sorry, new to the iPad and the thumbnails are way too small! Thx for the help!

I wasn't sure that I'd completely understood your question. Are you talking about the iPad's Photo app? I say this because, on mine, I don't have any thumbnails on the bottom bar - rather the are displayed towards the top of the screen, which is why I think I've misunderstood your question.

Assuming you are referring to the thumbnails, which are shown, when an image is opened, then there is no option to increase the thumbnail size. But, you can hold your finger pressed on the thumbnails and then slide over, it will show you any image you slide over in fullscreen.

Otherwise, close the fullscreen view with the pinch gestures and then select the desired photo from the main photo folder, which has larger thumbnails.

great, thanks. for clarifcation, i have an ipad 2 and in the photo app, when looking at a full screen picture, i have a toolbar on the bottom with thumbnails of all the photos in the folder. thanks for confirming that i can't increase the size of the thumbnails in the toolbar.

another question concerning the toolbar, once it disappears, i can't seem to get it back. i tap the screen all over, but the thumbnails don't appear. i have to exit the photo app and when i come back in, the toolbar appears again for a brief time. what am i missing here? thanks again for all the help!

The easiest first way to try to solve ‘unexplained’ or ‘unusual’ problems with the iPad are:-

Force the offending app to close. If you have iOS 4.2 or 4.3 double-press the ‘Home’ button to bring up the multi-task bar at the bottom of the screen. Press *and hold* any icon until they start to ‘jiggle’. Then tap the top left-hand corner of the app that you want to close. It will ‘disappear’ from the list. Don’t panic - you’ve not deleted it, just closed it. Now tap the Home screen and the multi-task bar will disappear. Re-open the iPad’s app and see if the problem has resolved itself. If not, it’s on to possible solution number two!!
Restart the iPad. Press *and hold* the Power button. After a couple of seconds a slider control will appear asking you to confirm that you really want to switch the iPad off (this is all you’ll be doing). Slide the control to accept. A rotating white ‘bezel’ will appear in the iPad screen as the iPad powers down (it takes a few seconds, just like it would if you were shutting down your PC). When the screen of the iPad has gone completely blank, press *and hold* the Power button for a couple of seconds until the white Apple logo appears and the iPad starts to power up. This takes several seconds, so be patient. During the power up the automatic screen orientation function is disabled, so don’t panic. A few seconds before the power up is complete, the iPad plays a little ‘jingle’ and then you’re back to the Home screen. Restart the iPad’s app and see if the problem persists. Apple (and Forum members) recommend that you power down your iPad at least once a week, just as you might regularly completely switch off your PC. The normal procedure of just briefly pressing the Power button of the iPad merely puts it to ‘sleep’. Most Forum members have found that one of the two methods I’ve mentioned here cure a whole bunch of unexplained problems and are an easy first step to resolving most anything that happens on the iPad.

It's not an error or problem with the photo app. Only certain views have the small thumbnail pics at the bottom that allow scrubbing.

Open the photo app. Open a pic in full screen. For a few seconds you have the thumbnails at the bottom but they will disappear. To get them back, just single tap the screen and you will see them again to scrub through.

First, I will admit I am brand new to Apple products, well, since the Apple II came out back in the olden days. I now have a brand new 16gig ipad deuce that I am slowly learning. But 2 things I can not seem to figure out. How do you move music from your PC in Itunes to the deuce, selected music, not all of it; and where is the calendar function so that I can keep track of appointments, etc.?
I'm sure it's probably very simple, but I don't see it.
    Thanks

OK - thanks for your question. The trick with moving music from your PC in iTunes to the iPad is that, contrary to common sense, it doesn't end up in iTunes on the iPad but rather in the iPod app on the iPad. Similarly movies that you move from your PC to the iPad end up in the Videos app on the iPad.

Regarding your question on the Calendar, the iPad has a native Calendar app on the Home screen, you should see it there with the other native apps, such as Games, YouTube, Safari, Settings etc. If you can't see it - and we've heard of cases where it 'disappears' then you might want to perform the 'fix all problems with the iPad' cure and turn your iPad completely off...
