Bloomberg reports today that Time Warner Cable has announced that it is to commence live out-of-home broadcasting via its TWC TV iOS app, which will mean that its customers can watch TWC programmes on the go via the app. According to the report, the move could see Time Warner Cable giving its customers mobile access to as many as 11 live national news, sports and entertainment channels, with the service kicking off tomorrow at 1O a.m. in New York. This would include the likes of the Big Ten Network, TV Guide Network, and BBC America. Access to local channels such as NY1 for New Yorkers will also be made available, with the iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod touch all getting access to the new service. As Bloomberg notes, Time Warner Cable was the first broadcaster to enable live TV viewing on the iPad, resulting in a lawsuit from Viacom back in 2011, as it said that TWC did not have the correct rights to broadcast its programmes on mobile devices.
