Has anyone found a way to tether one of the new Verizon Droid phones to the IPad? Specifically, I have the Ally VS740. If it can be done: Will I need to modify my Verizon plan? What kind of cable will I need and where can I get one? What are the costs for this? Thanks for any help!
You basically have to "root" or "unlock" your Droid then you can install program that makes it a wifi router/hotspot... go to ppcgeeks.com for more info and lots of help (I'm a moderator there and can vouch for the site). Is there something wmwifirouter for the Htc Incredible - PPCGeeks
i do this all the time. follow directions here to root phone How to Root from 2.1 - Android Forums its stupid proof for the most part. a lot of people get into doing a lot with their rooted droid and some of the custom ROMs really cause problems on the phone. I just rooted the base ROM, added wifi tether (free!) and go with it. I use it all the time w/o issue. can connect up to 5 systems to your phone.
Like with most things about the Droid it works when it wants to. Sometimes I get really great fast connection...sometimes it wont even get online.
