Taptu announced today that it has released an iPad version of its free iPhone/iPod touch news service app. From the biggest stories of the week to your own personal favourite interests, Taptu enables you to keep everything organised in a clean, intuitive design. It also goes above and beyond the regular duties of a news reader, going so far as to recommend content such as articles, sites and blogs that it thinks you might be interested in based on what you have been reading previously. The app also uses Taptu's proprietary mobile search technology to bring the user thousands more content sources than any other social news reader app on the market. Simply type in a search to have Taptu pull up a list of results from your favourite web sites, blogs and Twitter feeds. Taptu makes everything easier for you by connecting to all your favourite social media sources, such as Twitter and Facebook, without you having to leave the app.

This app looks nice but Flipboard has a "prettier" front end and "Zite" appears to be more useful (interfaces with Instapaper for offline viewing). Really though the pink and gray argyle socks have got to go...
