Syncing Movies is acting Strange on ipad 2

I exported a DVD to ipad format so I can sync them to the ipad. They came out as 6 files in proper mp4 format. When I add the folder to the movie library and check them off to sync and then click the sync button I get a warning that all my apps and data will be removed from the ipad! It is a 64 gig ipad 2 with 1/2 the memory occupied with music & everything else. SO basically it's 1/2 empty the movie is about 1.4 gig, so there is plenty of room.
So what's this error message all about?

You have to do it on the same pc/Mac that you use to sync your apps and music.
