    is there any cydia tweak that can do a "swipe the screen" to activate the ipad (or iphone) from sleep status ? .. rather than to click home or power button ?

    Swiping the screen no, since in sleep mode, the screen is inactive and is resilient to all touches and taps. The next best thing to that would be using a Smart Cover and the auto lock/wake feature. Alternatively you can set it to the volume buttons or earphone/headphone buttons. Activator will allow you to do so.

    I use the Cydia tweak ScreenDimmer ($1.99) on my iPad. You can set it so the iPad is completely dark after a certain time (which saves the battery from having to power the screen). Then, with a tap, you can make the screen come back to life.

    You can't wake an iPad with touch gestures, as willerz stated, but maybe this will be close enough?
