Stream audio

Does anyone know how to set up the iPad to stream audio? I want to listen to a conference call on the iPad, the browser is safari, but when the audio begins streaming an audio application called VLC launches. This opens up an audio player, but the sound never begins, and there doesn't appear to be a "start" button.

Just a thought - the iPad has independent volume settings for headphones and loudspeaker. If you're trying to listen to the conference call on a headset but had previously had the volume set for loudspeaker, you'll need to reset it for the headset.

Another possibility - some apps 'misinterpret' the mute button (which should only be to suppress system sounds) and use it to suppress all audio. Check the Mute function is not activated.
