As anyone had problems with low speaker volume? Mine used to be higher but lately it's lower. Also if I get an alert while listening to something else, the volume gets loud again??

You could check that Limit Volume is turned off in Settings/Music. Can't think of anything else right now.

If you have not done so, try restarting the iPad. Hold down the power button until you get the red power off slider. Once it is completely shut down, hold down the power button gain for a couple seconds. I've found this often clears up odd sound behavior.

Also, under Settings > General > Sounds you will see a switch just under the volume slider. If this is on your Alerts and general volume levels are always the same. I like to leave it off, with the slider mid-range, so that my Alert volume does not change with whatever else I'm doing.

iPad audio enhancement

I found a way to increase the audio is an accessory called audioamp180
It is inexpensive, and boosts the volume a lot, and makes it easier to hear when I have the iPad in my lap or on a pillow.
