Sound on timer and alarm

i have an ipad and a mini ipad on the mini in the clock I cannot get sound on the timer or the alarm i have both set up the same but the mini will not sound when the timer/ is ready Wherever I look it says it cant be muted but I do not get sound any ideas

Try changing the volume on the mini, using the Volume buttons. While the Side Switch doesn't mute these alerts, they'll remain silent when the volume is turned off.
