Sound and side buttons not working for volume

Hi. I have read posts here about the volume not working and I have tried a lot of ideas but it still is not working. I have tried all of my available settings in the settings icon, syncing with iTunes, turning power on and off. When I put my headphones in, the volume works perfect. I don't know what happened to get this way, any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you! Erika

Common bug

From general settings set side switch to mute.

Physically flip switch to mute.

Physically flip switch to unmute.

All should be well.
