Some emails not arriving in iPad from server

Both my husband and I have the same problems with our iPads. Most emails arrive without a problem but some emails just don't seem to arrive from our virginmedia server and we can only access them from the desktop. It seems to be random.

Also, I occasionally cannot send emails from one of my 2 accounts on the iPad and get a message to say outgoing server settings are wrong. When I check them they are the same as usual and same as the account (both virgin.net) which works. Outgoing port 465.

Can anyone out there help? I'm getting very fed up with having to start up the desktop, copy the email I want to send and send it from there.

Hi, Lualua! Welcome to iPF!

Here are a few things you can do:
Sign in through a browser and check your settings there (Settings - Forwarding). Is POP or IMAP enabled there? IMAP should be enabled.
On your iPad itself:
In Settings, disable the Mail account (turn it off) and enable it again.
Delete the account and reinstall it. In most cases this will resolve email issues.

If this doesn't help, it's certainly better to contact the carrier and ask about correct settings/what to do.
