Hi There

When doing an email, I c/o the globe, select smilie, but recipient tells me it does not appear on email when she opens it?

Generally speaking, iPad smileys (aka emojis or emoticons) can only be seen/read by another Apple device. The coding cannot be read by non-Apple. So, unless your friend has a iPhone, iPod or iPad - she's not going to be able to read them. Oh, and I think an Apple computer can read emoticons ... but I'm not sure (don't own an Apple computer).
