Thats pretty much it, just click home button. However, with the new OS you will have a "tray" of recently used apps. You can access them by double clicking the home button. Then you can close them with long press. Although it looks like you're going to delete them you aren't it only closes/removes from the tray. There are plenty of arguments/discussions regarding the need to do this so make your own choice/preference for whatever reasons you feel are valid. I prefer to occassionally close/remove all or most of them since I don't like the clutter, but I like leaving the most used ones in the tray so I can access them without going all the way to the main screen. I treat it more of a quick shortcut bar.

Whether the apps are actually open or closed or frozen or whatever is not a big deal to me, I prefer not to worry about it and close/remove to my own criteria which satisfies me.

Good info. Thanks much.

Does seem that apps should have a simpler way to shut them down when through using them.

Guess we can't have everything. :(

Well, I finally had time to update, but then I got a message saying that I had many purchased items which might be lost unless I sent them to iTunes. When I look at what is on there, all my book purchases through iBooks are there. Nothing from Nook, Borders, or Kindle. What about apps? What to do? Thanks for your help.

Happy New Year!

kindle you can resync/download the book and it should have your last used place marked. apps you can redownload without repurchasing. I do not use the other readers, including ibooks so I can't tell you what to do with those. The one thing to remember to do is to "file/transfer purchases" before doing any changes. simply syncing/backing up doesn't always cover this. Also on my friend's ipad we had to 'transfer purchases' several times before they all copied into the pc-itunes

Guess Im hesitant to do the upgrade because of the issues I have had with my iPhone 3G. I did the update on my phone and have lost 2-3 bars of reception since and have experienced a lot of dropped calls. It also keeps asking for my voicemail password, which doesnt work when I enter it....

Anyway, back to the iPad, thats what Im afraid of...it works so nice right now, great 3G reception and no issues on the Wifi side either...

Dont know what I should do????

I hate it. Multitasking is a pain.

For example, friendly (facebook) doesn't refresh. Each morning I read flipboard. When I open it, it's not on the main page..but where I left off.

Other than that..I havent noticed anything other than my rotation switch is now a useless mute. I knew about this going into it. Thinking I would have more pros than cons..

Just tap and hold the icon for flipboard (jiggly mode) and tap the red circle above it. Now when you open flipboard, it will be at the main page.

I know that.. But why the extra work? Vers just closing the app by pressing home and being done with it.

I really wish I had the option to control a forced close upon exit for certain apps.
