image.jpeg Hi people, I've got a very technical question!!! I recently sent an iPad mini 2 in for a lcd screen replacement as it had a broad black and several small vertical lines down the screen ( pic ) Now when I sent it away I left the screen protector on and upon the return the screen protector was still in place and it was the same one because it had the same flaws when I originally fitted it. The iPad is all ok and working, it didn't even look like it had been taken apart, my question is can the lcd screen be kind of wiped clean and reset with some software ie just plugging it in to something or can the glass and lcd screen be removed without using any heat because the original screen protector doesn't look like its melted anywhere. A mystery, any help anybody.

The cover glass and LCD screen are separate components, which explains how the faulty screen can be replaced while the same cover glass with the screen protector is still there. While heat is required to release the adhesive holding the cover glass, there's not enough heat used to melt a screen protector. A properly done screen replacement should not leave any evidence that the iPad has been opened. BTW, was the repair done by Apple?

Hi scifan, right thanks for that info, I was convinced it hadn't even been taken apart, but couldn't figure out how it had been done. No Apple didn't do it, I sent it away to a specialist company. thanks again
