Safari tab colour (color) and size

Could you please advise how I might make safaris tabs easier to read?
I have private browsing set on. The tabs are black with white text.
I have difficulty in reading them.
I have the original iPad and all apps are up to date.

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, but earlier this week my tabs suddenly were in black with light grey lettering. They were hard to read and I don't know what I did (I had been fooling around in the Settings section of Safari). Well, after much playing around, I found if I turned Private Browsing off (I must have turned in to On when I was fooling around), everything went back to normal gray background with black lettering - much easier to read. Hopes this helps.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I do deliberately have private browsing set to on, because
I wish to minimise the gross intrusion of walley's trying to get my attention about meaningless garbage.
