I have an sd card reader that I use to get photos from my camera to my iPad. It's not an apple product but has worked perfectly for the last two years. Now all of sudden it doesn't work at all or says it's not compatible with my iPad! I hadn't done anything I can think of that would stop it working!

Apple is quite restrictive about the use of unapproved accessories with iOS devices. Third party accessories approved by Apple will work without a problem. Apple sells an SD card reader that will work with the SD cards from your camera. They sell versions with both the 30 pin dock connector and the newer lightning connector.

Yes. Sadly Apple's product is 10x the price of the one I had that was working perfectly!

You can also connect the camera to the iPad with a USB cable and a USB to lightning adapter.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) For myself, I would forget trying to attach a SD card adapter directly to your iPad, better 'wireless' options now exist - look at my post #6 in this THREAD and the two devices that I own (other alternatives are available) - might be a better option for you?
