Here's the hottest intel of the morning. According to AllThingsD, they have it on good authority that Apple plans to hold a press event to launch the next generation iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 on October 22nd. They further confirmed intel that the new iPad 5 will borrow some outer design concepts from the iPad Mini. It would seem that Apple is still an expert at continuously evolving their products. Most of the speculation also suggests the new iPad 5 will come with the A7 chip seen in the iPhone 5S. Additionally, it is suspected that both devices will also include the fingerprint sensor technology found in that phone.
There's one other interesting (and humorous) tidbit to go along with this rumor. According to previous reports, Nokia was already planning to hold a press event involving Microsoft on that same day. This means that Apple is crashing their party and will likely steal most/all of the enthusiasm for whatever is being launched by that team. That's not all. That also happens to be the same day that Microsoft will officially ship their first Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets which they recently announced. That's what we call a two-for-one, and is a masterful stroke by Apple.
