One of our sales guys reported this week that RIM has been quietly having a fire sale on their tablet...

I have not confirmed this anywhere, but thought it was interesting. This guy is pretty tapped into the tablet market.

So they're going the same way as HP?

That's what he reported. Said the price was slashed 80% to corporate accounts, and there was no roadmap to a replacement tablet...

Apple has dramatically changed everything, all of these companies have evidently been caught completely off guard. It's difficult to watch. RIM's stock price also took a huge hit at weeks end.

Word is that RIM only shipped 200,000 Playbooks in Q3. That's one days iPad shipments... Has to be very depressing if you are RIM

They still did ok with 10m phones though, however you can expect them to dump their tablet.

I expect to see tighter integration between their phones and iPads in their future.

Interesting statement. That may very well be the best move they could make at this point, near term at least.
