Hi JA and T Poet.

I have tried that above method and it works fine.
I now have NO unwanted email address suggestions popping up.

This is how it unfolded for me:
Download and install "iBackupBot for iTunes". (In a PC or Mac).
Connect and make a new Backup of the iPad in iTunes.
Open iBackupBot and it searches for the new backup.
(Any change later made by iBackupBot is made in the backup on the PC not in the iPad.)
At the open page of iBackupBot look low down and in the left blue column is the entry:
Recent Email Addresses. Click it and then a page opens with all the Email Addresses stored to wayback when.
I deleted the lot.
Exit the page via the Red X at the right top corner.
This exits the whole iBackupBot and saves any changes.
Now the Ipad backup file on the PC has the modified email cache in it.
Go back to iTunes and do a Restore.
The Restore takes several minutes.
Now when you start an email and add an address in the "To", only addresses that are in contacts will appear.

Actually it takes longer to write this than the whole operation.

BTW the iBackupBot I used was free but had restrictions.
It also seems that the iBackupBot will do heaps more.

I hope my description is clear and accurate.

Hi T Poet.
Further to the above.
Since clearing the cache, the "Recents" that appear when selecting email addresses to put into "To" of an email, seem to work better.
That is, some "Recents" give the option to delete them! I never had that luxury before.
Maybe that is because the cleared cache now has plenty of free space!
That's just a guess, maybe someone else can confim or deny?
