Did running-down the battery help you to recalibrate the battery meter?

Some say it works, some say it doesn't - running down the battery to re-calibrate the battery meter....
    What is your experience?
Please answer it in the poll, that is the best way to collect the answers!

Given that I've done this from day one, every other month or so, all I can report is that I've never had a problem with the battery's reported level. So it either works, or it's not necessary. I suspect early symptoms of battery mis-calibration would be too subtle to be noticed in normal use. Who's going to notice that the battery should read 12% instead of 10%?
