I have a google docs account with various types of docs. I do this and get an upload error
From a google docs account:
If I open a synced Microsoft word doc on my ipad and make a change to it and then save it back to the google cloud it will error out and not upload.

If I open a synced Open Office doc on my ipad and make a change to it and then save to the google cloud it will push out to the web and save.
If I use the Open Office type of file it will save just fine.
Why one over the other?
Anyone?
