I never got the games to work. Start installing addons from repos preinstalled.

It is not straightforward but deffo worth it. I also installed and uninstalled it a couple of times until I figured it out.

Focus on the video add ons first, once you manage that you can move to the others.

I think that I accidentally deactivated the yahoo repo (if that's what that was) after I installed the xbmc package. After I installed it it said two things, one about how yep the yahoo.com repo or something was a dead link in something and asked me if I wanted to deactivate it or something. Then it said the same thing about another one called all music or something like that. I deactivated the yahoo one because I didn't understand what it was talking about but I didn't do the same thing for the second one. And there are certain add ons in the programs section but I don't think I have a complete list of the available ones. I don't really know much about this thing. Could you give me some help with getting started?

This package is kind of confusing to me, and I haven't been feeling that good the past couple days. Since you use it and understand it better than I do could you help with getting things going with it?

First objective is to get your xbmc to play something.

Go to home, settings, addons, all add ons,and you should see a list. Scroll down and pick the youtube add on and install it.

Once that is done, go to home, videos and you should see a youtube button there.

Let me know if you got this far before next steps.

Ok when I go to Home >Settings >Add Ons it shows me a list. And this list is the same as the one I see when I tap on the programs tab on the homescreen. I don't see a YouTube add on in the list. And the list only has about maybe 20 add ons. So am I not seeing a complete list right now? I'm using XBMC Eden.

Ok I found the YouTube add on and installed it. But I had to go to Home - Settings - Add ons - Get add ons - XBMC.org add ons - Video add ons and then it was in the list. It was a little complicated but I got it to play a video.

Excellent. In the same way you can install others.

Now, there are other repos that have addons are not yet on your xbmc.

For that you need to download either the repo or the addon file. These are files with a zip extension.

I dont think I am allowed to paste links here, but if you google xbmc Unofficial add-on repositories you should get a good enough list to get you started.

Once you find the one you want, you need to download the zip file and on xbmc onstall it from the "install from zip file" option, that you may have coma across already.

After this step, the new addon or repo should eihther on the addons or repos list.

Please let me know how you get on.

Ok so first thing I did was do the search. Then I went to XBMC's wiki page for non-default repos. I took a look at them all and read their descriptions. One of them said it had games in it so I downloaded that one and installed it in XBMC. Then I took a look at what was in it, and installed a program called "Repositories Installer". With that program I was able to install the rest of the repos that sounded interesting to me. Which were ones that had general add-ons, video add-ons, program add-ons, etc.. Then I browsed through what was in each of them briefly and installed a few things that sounded interesting to me. For instance I installed a couple anime add-ons. I took a look at one of the anime add-ons to see if it had Dragon Ball Z in it, and it did, over 250 episodes. So that's cool to me. I also installed an add-on called IceFilms and when I tried to open it there was an error message and it didn't work.

Now, I also installed the "Advanced Launcher". So, have you used this? I installed it because it said it could launch any Windows program. To me this meant I could download or transfer windows applications to my iPad and be able to use them with it. Am I mistaken about this? Does this particular add-on only work when you're using a computer with the Windows OS? This is the same kind of thing I thought when I looked at the "romcollectionbrowser". It seemed to me that I could download or transfer an emulator that normally works on a PC to my iPad (a type of one you can't get in Cydia right now) and then download or transfer ROMs to my iPad and play games that I normally couldn't play with my iPad... So with this Advanced Launcher program can I actually use Windows programs on my iPad, or are these kinds of notions I'm having about such types of add-ons just fantasies?

Also, can I download the media that I'm able to view with these add-ons and transfer it to a cloud network drive that I store media and files on that I can access from my iPad? Because if I could say, download the entire series of Dragon Ball Z and store it on my HDD that would be really cool. Or would that be piracy?

I don't know. Just some ideas.

I downloaded a few more video add-ons and some of them aren't working. I keep getting error messages saying something about a plug-in. But in the descriptions of the add-ons it didn't mention anything about a plug-in being needed.

It is normal that some addons dont work or get broken when links of the pages they target change.

I have never used adv launcher but googled it briefly and it seems to be to launch windows apps from xbmc, but it is only good if you have xbmc installed on a windows pc.

I use it mainly for video...the main thing is that you grabbed the idea of how to work with addons and repos. Then it is about experimenting.

Re downloading, some addons give you the option when you click on content.

Man, that stinks about Advanced Launcher. I'd still like to try it out and see if it works.

So, what do you suggest I do next? And unfortunately to me when I went back into the anime add-on, which was "AnimeCrazy", and I tried watching an episode of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z, every link to a dubbed version of it was broken, it said because of a copyright issue. I did download a second anime add-on, though, called "AnimeFTW.tv". I'm going to check that one out once I get done with this message and see if it has anything that would interest me. I'm real disappointed about the other one though. But anyway, like I said, what do you suggest I do at this point, because I was really thinking this package might be something worth having, and now I'm kind of wondering whether or not there is anything I can do with it that would be worthwhile to me...

I tried checking out a different series in AnimeCrazy and it didn't have a links to dubbed versions. So, I also tried the other anime add-on, AnimeFTW.tv, and it said I had to be logged in to view the content...

So, I went to AnimeFTW.tv and registered, but it appears they have member rankings in place and there are limitations and privileges according to how low or high you are in the ranking system. And it looked like they didn't have any of the Dragon Ball series' in their database. They did have a show called Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood that I have seen most of and would like to finish watching, but with the ranking I have in place I can only watch the first two episodes. Which is no good to me really.

I had installed Hulu, Nickelodeon, and KidsWB add-ons, so I could possibly watch some movies, TV shows, and cartoon series' that I watched when I was a kid. But all three of these add-ons gave me an error message about not having a plug-in.

I also installed a SoundCloud add-on thinking I might be able to find some music I like, but I guess there aren't any more known artists on there. None of my searches found anything of interest to me.

The only add-on I have gotten to really work was the YouTube add-on and I didn't need one of those... I have the YouTube app that comes with iOS and ProTube HD from Cydia for all my YouTube purposes.

I don't know... This seems to be less of a worthwhile package to me now then I had assumed it would be.

Could you give me a list of the add-ons that you use and a description of each of them? Maybe something you use and know works will be of some use to me.

Not all the apps suit everybody. I find it great an use it a lot, but that is me. If you dont like it, uninstall it and move no.

Also I already directed you to how to find addons lists and what they do.

As previously said, they basically make content that is already available online playable on xbmc. If the location of the content changes, the addon needs to be updated or it will not work.

I dont know if I can help much more.

That's fine. Anyway, thanks for the lead, I'll have to play with it some more and see if I can figure out a good use for it.
