My pad is a year old and I have a thin purple line can it be fixed? I read on line this is a defect and my pad is going to crash?

The purple line is on the display?
If a reboot (holding the power button for 5 seconds and then slide to power off) doesn't help, then the iPad may need to be repaired and it would be advisable for you to contact Apple, or just go to one of their stores to see, what they have to say about that issue.
