Problems with email and Microsoft outlook.

Have just purchased my first apple product, iPad third generation, when I open my outlook on my desktop it empty's my inbox on the iPad, any ideas.

When you request help , it assists if you supply as much information as possible.

What email account is setup on Outlook,
Pop or imap?
What email provider is it ? Gmail, yahoo, ISP?
What version of Microsoft Office are you using?
What version of Windows are you using?

The account is Pop
Provider is yahoo
Version 2007
Windows xp

Sorry about the lack of information, very new to all of this, but thanks for contacting.

Ok as far as I know yahoo does not retain a copy of mail for a 2nd device like an iPad.
To fix this you need to tell outlook to leave mail on the server.
Open outlook and go to tools ,email accounts
Open your account and look under the advanced setting page and set the settings like the picture Below.
This should resolve the problem.

Just tried your suggestion and so far so good, thank you very much for you help, won't forget about the detail next time.
